Partly Good, Partly Bad: Holiday Stress

Image
Good day everyone, hope you are all doing well? Thanks to all those who made comments on the last post and recommendations as well, I appreciate you. Sadly, this would be the final article for the year.   I do hope I have been able to enlighten you in one way or the other J  and  I do promise to come back with more interesting topics next year.  Today I would briefly discuss with you how to possibly reduce the stress associated with holidays. Yeah, you can actually get so stressed out because of the holidays activities and events. The holiday season is supposed to be a time to relax and have fun, a special time meant to be spent with family and friends as a way to reflect back on the year. However, in reality, the holidays come filled with stress of all varieties. There are obligations from family, friends and sometimes work that all need attention and in the end the holidays may end up feeling more like a burden than a chance to recuperate.  Are there events to at

Searching for Closure

Image
Hello everyone, it feels good to share another topic with you again. Today I will be shedding light on the above topic which of course would benefit almost everyone or anyone in any form of relationship, and even for those who are yet to but need to know what to do when they find themselves in such situation. “If I could only speak to him” ... "If she'd had just told me why it was over, rather than ghosting me"... These are statements that may bring one to finding closure. Closure is knowing the reason a romantic relation was terminated and no longer feeling emotional attachment or pain, thereby allowing for the establishment of new and healthy relationships. Finding closure is difficult. Without closure many people report feeling like they're unable to move past their grief. This is why it is important to be honest with your reasons when breaking up with someone. Now if your partner refuses to give you closure after you have repeatedly asked for it, ask yo

Hello everyone, feels good to be back again! Last month was World Suicide Prevention Month and a lot has been on going on creating awareness towards suicide prevention. This month, October 10 th 2019 is World Mental Health Day, and guess what, the theme is also Suicide Prevention :) . A lot is being said about suicide as the rate of suicide is increasing by the day both here in Nigeria and over the world. However, there are ways one can prevent this epidemic called suicide. You can click http://shunnysideville.blogspot.com/2019/08/suicide-prevention.html to read up on some tips I shared on Suicide Prevention. The awareness continues as we hope to get a large number of Nigerians and even Africans on being conscious about their mental health and when to seek help. So today, I would be discussing on an issue (stigma) that has actually been a major turn off why people do not even bother seeking for help or talking to anyone about their mental health. Even globally, a lot of

POSITIVE THINKING, POSITIVE ATTITUDE

Image
Do you tend to see the glass as half empty or half full? You have probably heard that question plenty of times. Your answer relates directly to the concept of positive thinking and whether you have a positive or negative outlook on life. Positivity doesn’t always refer to simply smiling and looking cheerful, however positivity is more about one’s overall perspective on life and their tendency to focus on all that is good in life. Positive mindset as the tendency to focus on the bright side, expect positive results, and approach challenges with a positive outlook. Having a positive mindset means making positive thinking a habit, continually searching for the silver lining and making the best out of any situation you find yourself in. Positive attitude  means  positive  thinking. It is optimism and maintaining a  positive mindset . It is a mental  attitude  that focuses on the bright side of life. Having a positive attitude does not mean you are dismissive of problems and

CELEBRITIES AND DRUG ABUSE

Image
Hello everyone, today we would be talking about abuse of substance by celebrities. Its no new to us that many celebrity both home and  abroad have been been in and out of rehab as a result of drug use. We would therefore start by taking about what drug abuse is and even among celebrities, why they use drugs and the effect it has generally and then finally the treatment methods. Drug abuse refers to the compulsive, excessive, and self-damaging use of habit forming drugs or substances, leading to addiction or dependence, serious physiological injury (such as damage to kidneys, liver, heart) and/or psychological harm (such as dysfunctional behavior patterns, hallucinations, memory loss), or death. Also called substance abuse, the illicit use of these substances plays a major role in many social problems, such as drugged driving, violence, stress, and child abuse. This can lead to homelessness, crime, and missed work or problems with keeping a job. The consistent and continuo

Suicide Prevention

Hello everyone, still on the suicide matter ooo... I am sure we must have heard of the phrase "Prevention is better than cure". There is no two ways about it, prevention sure saves us a lot of future stress and even at a lesser cost. Check out all the big big ailments today, you would realize that just a little instruction or diet or something of that sort would have saved the person from any of it today. It is in that light I will be discussing about how we can prevent suicide. Like I mentioned in an earlier post, suicide doesn't just happen, it follows a chain of events which ends with the act of taking ones own life. Conscious effort must be made towards preventing suicide. These efforts must be comprehensive, integrated and synergistic, as no single approach can impact alone on an issue as complex as suicide. Therefore, suicide prevention requires a vision, a plan and a set of strategies. On the part of the individual experiencing suicidal thoughts or attemp
